He is best known for his work as the co-founder of Lorimar Television, which produced such hit shows as Dallas, Falcon Crest, and The Waltons. He is also the former owner of the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Adelson was born in Los Angeles, California, and attended the University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating, he began his career in the entertainment industry, working as a production assistant on the television series The Untouchables. In 1968, Adelson and his business partner Lee Rich founded Lorimar Television, which quickly became one of the most successful television production companies of the 1970s and 1980s. During his tenure at Lorimar, Adelson produced such hit shows as Dallas, Falcon Crest, and The Waltons. In the late 1980s, Adelson sold his stake in Lorimar and purchased the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. He served as the chairman and CEO of the hotel until it was sold in 1995. Adelson is estimated to have a net worth of $1.2 billion.
